Crosswinds constant pressure water distribution system.

Prior to this project, Crosswinds, a lakeside community in Ellery, NY, had problems with low and fluctuating water pressure. The existing pumping system allowed pressure to drop as low as 25 psi before coming on, which meant pressures below 20 psi in some residences. The fix this, we installed 2 Aquavar variable frequency drives, made by Xylem, along with new pumps and 3 phase motors after working with the vendor to size the drives and pumps to adequately meet the needs of the community. This control system is paced by a pressure transducer in the discharge line. The pressure signal goes to the drives, which modulate the speed that the pumps run to maintain a constant pressure of 50 psi. This system has solved the pressure issue entirely. Residents never see low or fluctuating pressures with this system in operation. Additionally, a Omni Site Crystal Ball alarm system was installed and we replaced the main valve on the discharge line feeding the entire community.
